American Legion SSG Michael W Hosey Post 205
Clay-Trussville, Alabama

Post 205 is named in honor of local hero SSG Michael Wesley Hosey. His final mission came on 17 September 2011 while on patrol with his US Army Special Forces ODA & SOT-A team.

 

Hosey enlisted in the Army as a Cryptologic Linguist in 2001. His first duty assignment was with 304th Military Intelligence Battalion, Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

SSG Hosey was assigned to Headquarters Support Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group at Fort Lewis, Washington in 2005. He was serving as a Special Operations Team member at the time of his death.

Post 205 Mission

Post 205, a 501c19,  is dedicated to the support of Veterans in the Clay, Trussville, and Surrounding areas. Our post leads with a service first mindset by supporting Veterans and Veteran families alike by providing VA services for claims assistance and administration. You will find Post 205 supporting many local events in our area. Wreaths Across America, Honor Rides, Take Back the Day at the Trussville entertainment District, and Flag retirement ceremonies are just a taste fo the service our Post focuses on for our community.

The American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.

If you have served at least one day of active military duty since December 7, 1941 and were honorably discharged or you are still serving active military duty honorably, you are eligible for membership with The American Legion.

We meet the first Monday of every month at the City of Clay Community Center building. Dinner starts at 6 and the meeting begins at 7.
